The Financial Reporting Council (“FRC”) is the statutory organisation established under the Financial Reporting Council Ordinance (Cap 588) (“FRCO”) entrusted with the statutory responsibilities to conduct independent investigations into possible auditing or reporting irregularities by auditors of listed entities and to enquire into possible non-compliance with accounting requirements by listed entities.
Under the Financial Reporting Council (Amendment) Bill 2018, the Government has proposed a reform of the auditor regulatory regime whereby the FRC will become the independent regulator of auditors of listed entities, with powers of investigation, inspection and discipline. The proposed reform will significantly increase our functions and responsibilities thereby making this an exciting time to join us.
